When you work with Toby and the team at The Mighty Mo! Design Co., you get to take advantage of all the years of experience we have under our belt.
Through trial and error, we have revamped and refined our development process over the years in order to make things as simple and intuitive as possible.
Web development and design is a collaborative process. This page explains how we work as well as our expectations of you.
The Development Process
At a high level, our process goes like this:
- You ask us to do something for you.
- We estimate it.
- You say, “Go for it!”
- We get the work done.
That’s it, really.
From time-to-time, you might need to provide feedback. For example, we might say, ‘We’re done!”, but you take a look at the work and notice something we missed. In this case, just let us know, and we’ll take care of it until you are happy.
Or maybe we noticed something previously not discussed that deserves fixing. In this case, we will ask you if you’d like us to complete the work, and you can tell us, “Giddy up!” or “No thanks.”
Technical Stuff We Do To Protect Your Investment
We utilize industry best practices. This helps protect your investment in the long-term.
We don’t cut corners when a little extra elbow grease will add a lot of long-term value be it on the coding, WordPress, server, or hosting end of things.
Some things we do that protect your investment:
- Utilize git code management and deployment workflows.
- Follow well-documented WordPress coding standards.
- Make nightly, redundant backups of all our hosted websites.
- Offer services to keep your website hack-free (and clean it up if it does ever get hacked).
- etc. etc. etc.
You pay us only when we do work on your project. Our pre-paid hourly cost structure is as simple as it gets.
At any time, you can buy more of our time or pull the plug on a to-do or project. It’s up to you.
You are in charge of your hours.
All hours must be purchased before we do the work. For example, if we estimate a to-do will require 10 hours to complete, we recommend that you purchase 10 hours of development time. If we get it done in less than 10 hours, you can either request a refund or apply those unused hours to other to-dos. Every hour we work, we expect to be paid for, and we don’t expect to be paid for a minute more than we work.
One thing that sets us apart from our peers is the fact that we strive to be available when you need us. We have invested heavily in things like making our leadership team and developers available to you from 9-5 Monday-Friday, and we hope that you will make use of these services. We believe that being available to discuss timelines, deadlines, pricing, web questions, etc. is, maybe, the most important part of our job. Please contact us when you need us.
We believe that the best outcomes are the ones that you have a stake in. For this reason, we expect the following of you:
- Provide regular feedback on our work.
- Let us know if we mess something up.
- Let us know if you mess something up.
- In web development, pictures speak WAY louder than words!
Send us screengrabs, video captures, Word Docs, PDFs, etc. to communicate your ideas and directives.
- Be honest.
- Be forthright.
- Be fair.
Website development is messy business, as anyone who has built anything on the web can attest. Know that we are doing our best at all times. Try to especially remember this during the frustrating times. 😉
- Be professional.
There might be times when you have more questions than answers. Please know that we are always open to listening, changing, and educating wherever possible.
- Have a little fun.
The web is an exciting and fun place! While we are building you something with a lot of value, we also believe in keeping things light, telling jokes, and being a little bit silly.
We expect a lot out of you, and you need to expect a lot out of us. Here are some of the most important things that we aim to deliver in every conversation we have with you:

Rene and Toby have hobbies ranging from building yogurt thermostats to teaching ukulele. We’ve got serious work to do for you, but we also have unique personalities (we expect you’ve got the same!).
The Golden Rule
When in doubt, we default to The Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would like done unto yourself. Wise words!
